About

I am an instructor at Okanagan College who is interested in open-resource assessment and cognitive science in the mathematics classroom. If you would like to discuss one of these topics, or to have me visit your classroom, please contact me. I am always happy to discuss mathematics and to present to all levels of learners!

Accomplishments:

  • Organizer of the Spring into Math Event: a day of interactive and movement-based mathematics for elementary school students, hosted by Okanagan College
  • Established presenter in Canada (BC, SK, MB, ON, PEI) and internationally (NY, DC)
  • Winner of the Strong Start Faculty Award at Okanagan College (2018)
  • Finalist for the Strong Start Faculty Award at Okanagan College (2017)
  • Designs mathematics workshops for Educational Assistants, home-learners, and elementary/secondary students across Canada

    Hi, I found your blog while searching for feedback on Waterloo MMT program. I have noticed that you’ve done MMT and another masters, may I ask why? What made you decide to get two masters, and what makes MMT stand out from a “regular” masters in math?

      Hey Jackie,
      the MMT is designed for high school teachers who might be looking to upgrade or extend their learning in many areas of mathematics. I took the second masters since I am heavily focused on mathematics teaching within my career, and I thought it would help me stand out from the crowd. It also allowed me to take some math courses that I wasn’t able to during my undergrad/grad programs such as math finance or cryptography.
